This is due to advertisers attempting to send users to malware laden sites. Also they didn’t just remove ads but removed 400,000 websites from appearing on the search engine. AdWords removed 66 million “trick to click” ads out of those 66 million a huge 48 million ads were attempting users to install unwanted software.

Google have developed new technology which will help the process of protecting Google’s advertisers by removing ads from individual web pages.

For Google to protect all of their users and businesses who are publishing on Google. They need to make sure that they are removing the users who are trying to take an advantage of online news to make money. This is by people stealing peoples content and reposting. Google have taken the next step into prohibiting websites that are serving misrepresentation content. “Essentially this means that you can’t serve ads if you’re pretending to be a legitimate news website based in London when you’re actually a content scammer in a different city.” A spokesman from Google said. Google have reviewed 11,000 websites for potential violations for misrepresentation content policy, and a total of 650 sites were blocked and over 90 publishers were removed and terminated from showing up on Google.
Google have said “We’re constantly updating our policies as we see new threats emerge. Last year, we added 28 new advertiser policies and 20 new publisher policies to combat new threats and improve the ads experience online.” Google are always on the case with protecting the ads ecosystem. All of their methods to protecting Googles search engine is getting better with putting new technology into place to avoid scams and this gives Google’s users the best experience.
